WATER INDUSTRY - Desalination

In many parts of the world fresh, potable water is in short supply and other methods of generating drinking water are required. The use of saltwater in a desalination process is a method much used in the Middle East, with Flash Evaporation or Reverse Osmosis being the general technologies involved.

Flash evaporation used knitted mesh pad demisters in the condensing section to recover the pure water. There are different mesh pad densities used and materials such as 316L Stainless Steel and Monel are the most common.
