INDUSTRIAL PROCESSING - Gas Absorbers

Many industrial processes involve air or gas flows which eventually are emitted to atmosphere, and which pass through some form of gas absorbing tower, packed column or Venturi to remove gaseous and other contaminants. Gas absorbers are normally fitted with a droplet separator or mist elimination device of some kind, appropriate for the size and nature of liquid expected to exit the vessel. The whole range of filters are used somewhere or other, i.e. vane pack chevrons, mesh pad demisters, candle filter mist eliminators.

The selection of packing in such vessels is key, and dependent on pressure loss, mass transfer and other factors.
